Pretoria at a glance

Tshwane, better known to many as Pretoria, is South Africa's executive and National capital. This purple paradise is often referred to as the "Jacaranda City" -dressed in purple as thousands of Jacaranda trees line the streets.

The city includes little town-like areas including Centurion, Cullinan, Bronkhorstspruit, Pretoria, Bapsfontein and all their surrounding areas. These little towns formerly had separate municipalities but have now been merged into the new "Tshwane District Municipality".

Surrounding Transport

As one of South Africa's leading cities, transport is readily available with various municipal buses in operation, as well as the extensive minivan taxi services. One can also use the Metrorail service as well as the Gautrain Besides these forms of public transport, there are many other services such as Uber and Lyft to make use of. If you're looking for leisurely travel between Pretoria and Cape Town, there is no other journey as sophisticated and special as the coveted Blue Train. The 30-hour trip is an experience to remember.

For those keen to jetset locally or around the globe, Pretoria is only a 38-minute drive via the R21 to the OR Tambo International Airport, or a 40-minute drive to the Lanseria International Airport.
